What is Toastmasters?
Toastmasters is an international non-profit organization, mainly focusing on helping people develop public speaking and leadership skills. It started over 100 years ago in the USA, and now has more than 14,000 clubs in 150 countries all over the world.
The clubs provide a supportive environment for learning and personal growth, while encouraging their members to push their boundaries and challenge themselves.
As of early 2025, there are over 100 Toastmasters clubs in Shanghai! Most of the clubs hold their meetings in English, but there are also many Chinese-language clubs, bilingual clubs, and even clubs using other languages. Many people come to the clubs to make new friends, learn new skills, or simply practice English.
